Palmarosa is a perennial plant belonging to the Poaceae family, closely related to other grasses like Lemongrass. It is characterized by its long, slender, green leaves, typical of the Poaceae family, and it produces both berries and small dangling flowers. In India, particularly in August when it blooms, the entire area is adorned with purple flowers, creating a stunning and picturesque sight. Palmarosa is native to India, where it is often referred to as “Indian geranium oil” or “rosha.” In the past, it was used as a cost-effective alternative to the more expensive rose essential oil. Palmarosa is also cultivated in other regions such as the Seychelles Islands, Java, and the Comoros Islands, each producing essential oils with unique aroma profiles.
